Fives was chosen by one of the leading Japanese courier companies to automate its new sorting center in the Tokyo region.
The project notably includes the supply of two 1 and 1.1-kilometer GENI-beltTM sorting systems, which will be supplied by 32 injection lines, 60 unloading units, 236 loading units, 16 singulators and control systems. This line will be able to process 96,000 parcels per hour. It will enter production in 2021.
The La Poste Group has renewed its confidence in Fives with the assignment of three centers in France, one for La Poste and two for DPD.
Fives was asked to transfer a warehouse to a site measuring over 5,000 sqm to respond to a significant increase in activity; the facility will allow it to reach a nominal capacity of 15,000 parcels per day.
The Poste Italiane Group’s SDA courier company has once again relied on Fives’ expertise for its new distribution center in Bologna. The turnkey solution offered by the Group will be able to process over 9,000 parcels and 19,000 flyers or small packets per hour.
Fives was selected by one of the leaders in the courier sector for its distribution centers in Italy and Israel, and to automate the largest services center in the Hong Kong region.
The turnkey solution for this Asian site includes a GENI-beltTM sorter equipped with high-speed induction lines and X-ray machines.
These new contracts follow the successful commissioning of projects previously obtained in Europe and the United Kingdom.
From preventive to corrective maintenance and deployment of maintenance methods, Fives offers comprehensive industrial maintenance services, under fixed sum contracts with a performance obligation, to ensure maximum uptime of facilities.
The Group is already present on a number of customer sites, and has once again won repeat business with two major courier companies who have recently renewed the maintenance contracts for their sorting platforms. Fives has also won an initial maintenance contract for the order picking equipment it supplies to U-log, Groupe Système U’s logistics subsidiary.
Following the excellent results obtained with mixed palletization systems installed by the Group at several Ulog automated logistics platforms, Fives has continued to collaborate with this French food distribution company to automate its fresh produce distribution platforms.
A leading company in the pre-prepared meal industry also asked the Group to extend its logistics distribution center in France. Finally, Fives continues to support the Intermarché Group with the commissioning of several additional fresh produce sorting platforms.
Fives is collaborating with one of the leading mail companies in the United States to supply several hundred SOLI XK singulators.
This technology responds to its singulation and non-standard product management requirements. The first systems were successfully commissioned.
In China, strong growth in e-commerce benefits Fives
The sustained economic development in China has greatly benefited certain sectors, including e-commerce: in 2017, online sales revenue reached €800 billion (source: BusinessFrance). 514 million Chinese people make purchases online, and e-commerce already accounts for 14% of total retail sales.
Fives is well positioned to take advantage of this momentum. On January 9, 2018, during the 1st official visit of the French President to China, Frédéric Sanchez, Chairman of Fives, signed an agreement with the Chinese e-commerce leader JD.com.
Through this alliance, JD.com will introduce cutting-edge sorting technologies developed by Fives into its warehouses in order to improve the performance of its existing logistics infrastructure.
In this context, JD.com has awarded a new contract to Fives to supply the sorting system for its logistics center in Dongguan, south China. The facility offers the latest generation automated equipment, including three sorting solutions, and includes over 5,500 meters of conveyor lines. This order follows the successful completion of projects in Beijing and Kunshan.
